Grindon Church Community Project situated in Galway Road, just off A183 on the west side of Sunderland is hidden away in the middle of a housing estate, the Grindon United Reformed Church was built in the 1950s and now works with the community in a wide variety of ways. Grindon URC became a Mission Project of the Northern Synod of the United Reformed Church in 2010 and continues as a church for all, as well as a busy Community Centre.
Our services:
Garden/Messy Church will restart soon concentrating on the garden when the weather permits. Activities, songs, fun for all ages not just the young.
A range of services and sacraments including weddings, baptisms, and funerals by arrangement.

We are planning offer a short prayer session on a weekday morning including time for quiet reflective prayer beginning soon. In the meantime you can access the online URC services. Contact us for a link.
Our Prayer Corners are quiet areas for meditation, contemplation, bible study or prayer and available to any visitor.

Cinema Club – Saturday 17th February 10.30 anyone is welcome to come along for Shrek The Musical – Sing-a-Long. Hosted by the Encore Theatre Group. It is free to attend and refreshments will be available to purchase. More Cinema Club later. Let us know what you would like to see. Supported by National Lottery Community Fund.
Encore Theatre – On Saturday Mornings young ones from 5 to 11 yrs can have a go at singing and performing. The group are currently making a music video to share. So much fun in a friendly group.
Grindon Green Hearts – doing whatever we can to protect the planet’s future. All ages can take part growing, recycling, reusing and reducing waste. Watch out for our ideas and projects on Social Media. Repair Café coming soon. See also our Men’s Group page and Craft N Natter
Chi Kung with The Little Company of Calm – Fridays at 10.30. A meditative session of gentle exercise, breathing and thought.
